Saskatchewan Hidden Gems: Buffalo Pound Provincial Park – Moose Jaw | RV travel camping (Ep. 468)

Following chilly temperatures and ferocious winds across western Nebraska and the Dakotas, we crossed the Canadian border in mid-May to arrive at Buffalo Pound Lake to a high temperature of 37 degrees, and awoke on our first morning in camp to a prairie draped in white. But the frozen stuff melted as quickly as it arrived, and we set out to explore.

Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is a true gem hidden within the vast Saskatchewan prairie, with exceptional camping, hiking, biking, boating, and more. The park's Nicolle Flats Nature Area features everything from a marshland boardwalk for birding, to a turn-of-the-century homestead to explore. And it's only 20 minutes from Moose Jaw, the province's fourth largest city, where you can bootleg hooch for Al Capone through the city's hidden underground tunnels, or explore the prairie's extensive transportation history.

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.

We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah during the winter months, and invite you to come along as we travel all around North America. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so while you'll occasionally find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into.
