In last week's Episode 231 we shared the dry, windswept plains of the Texas Panhandle surrounding Amarillo that nevertheless hold a few hidden gems, like Palo Duro Canyon where we spent the past week. Northeast of Amarillo lies another secret: Lake Meredith, a hidden oasis where wildlife and people find relief from the dry grasslands above. Through this plain, the Canadian River has cut dramatic 200-foot canyons where the river has been impounded by the Sanford Dam to create 10,000-acre Lake Meredith, the largest body of water for 200 miles in any direction. The Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, maintained by the National Park Service lines much of the lakeshore.
In this Grand Adventure we'll camp in our RV at the NRA's Sanford-Yake Campground as we kayak Lake Meredith, check out some rare Texas RV boondocking, and explore a bit of the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument before heading east on I-40 to explore a pair of ghost towns along the Historic Route 66: Glenrio, Texas/New Mexico and Cuervo, New Mexico, en route to our next destination.

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah during the winter months, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so while you'll occasionally find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. We've now transitioned from "long-timing" for six months a year, to living and traveling in our RV full-time.
We'll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!
