We were in search of the perfect quiet place to escape the camping masses of Memorial Day Weekend, and we found it! We stayed at Along the River RV Campsites in the quiet town of Dolores, Colorado, approximately 40 miles from the Four Corners Monument, as guests of ranchers Jeanna and Gordon who carved five riverside campsites out of one of their farm fields. It's a beautiful spot, and we fell asleep each night serenaded only by the sounds of the bubbling Dolores River right next to our fifth wheel RV.

Dolores is a sleepy former railroad town just 10 miles north of the regional population center of Cortez. Established as a station on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad, Dolores is centrally located between Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and Mesa Verde National Park. But we've visited both of those in the past and wanted to simply relax over the holiday weekend. Today, Dolores is home to right around 1,000 residents on the edge of the San Juan National Forest.

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.
